RELIGIOUS FESTIVALS
Many of the traditional festivities in Terres de l'Ebre are linked to religion. We notice that just looking at the festive calendar of these regions in the south of Catalonia. During the Holy Week the streets of the towns and villages are filled of believers and curious in order to watch the processions. At the same time, the Municipal Theatre of Ulldecona starts the annual representations of the Passion.
On the festival of the Hábeas, many villages ornate their streets with fantastic carpets of flowers, whereas for Virgin of Carme, saint patron of fishermen, most of the sailing villages organise processions by boat in order to take the Madonna to worship. Finally, in the summer months, the local festivals become almost ancestral rituals that year after year fill in of ardour, feeling and joy the festive calendar of Terres de l'Ebre.
