Castell d'Ascó
add to the planner
As most of the defensive buildings placed at the end of the Ebro Valley , the Castle of Ascó was built under the Muslim domination and was conquered by the Christians in the twelfth century. A great part of the fortress, declared Cultural Good of National Interest by the Generalitat de Catalunya, was destroyed during the war of els Segadors in the middle of the seventeenth century. At present there survives a tower of Arab origin, which was rebuilt during the carlist war , and part of a gothic tower.
