Torres de l'Aldea

The village of l'Aldea preserves four medieval watchtowers, catalogued as Cultural Good of National Interest by the Generalitat de Catalunya. The monuments can be bordered if we continue, on foot or by bicycle, the route proposed by the Town council of this village of the Delta. The so called Tower of the Chapel, of arectangular plant, is surely one of the most emphasized heriditary points of the village and, in fact, it has turned into the symbol of the village. We can also find the Tower of La Candela that is placed to the south of the village, much next to the river and in front of the town of Amposta. We cannot forget the imposing circular Tower of Burjassénia and the ruins of the Tower of Benixarop (all of them from the thirteenth century), placed to the north of the village, in a non-irrigated area, where it is possible to enjoy the wonderful landscape of the Delta de l'Ebre.
